The staffs of the HPC, MPC, NCEP Central Operations, and NESDIS toast meteorological Y2K (00 UTC January 1, 2000, that is, 7 p.m. EST December 31, 1999) with the NCEP Director Louis Uccellini and some sparkling apple juice.  As the result of extensive planning and development efforts by NOAA the Y2K roll-over was uneventful – except for the toast.
