...Moderate to heavy rainfall will begin to exit the Northeast and
New England tonight...

At 1000 PM EDT...An area of low pressure was located about 60
miles west of Buffalo, New York with a central pressure of 1012 mb
or 29.88 inches of mercury. From this low, a quasi-stationary
front extended southeastward into the southern Mid-Atlantic states
while a slow-moving cold front stretched southwest from the low
through the Appalachians into the Southeast and along the Gulf
Coast. National Weather Service radars and surface observations
showed pockets of light to moderate rain across parts of New York
through southern and central New England.

The low pressure system is forecast to continue moving slowly
northeastward across Lake Erie into southeastern Ontario
overnight. Modified tropical moisture streaming northward and
interacting with the system will continue to produce moderate rain
across portions of the Northeast tonight. Additional rainfall
totals of a half to 1 inch are expected with locally higher
amounts possible. Main stem river flooding is ongoing across
portions of northern Maryland and Pennsylvania along with areal
flooding away from rivers and streams.
