The core of the double-barrel low pressure system is forecast to
move through New England today and then begin to move farther away
into southeastern Canada by tonight. Wind-swept rain, heavy at
times, will continue to overspread New England today as rain
tapers off across the Mid-Atlantic. The heavy rain over New
England will gradually taper off tonight as the storm system
begins to exit into Canada. Colder air from central Canada will
be pulled southeastward across the Great Lakes on Monday behind
the big storm, triggering lake-effect snow from west to east
across the Great Lakes. The snow will head toward the
Appalachians and upstate New York tonight and into Tuesday before
tapering off Tuesday night as the storm moves away.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM EDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
