The closed upper-level low stalled over the Southwest will provide
the support for continuing precipitation chances through the
weekend, with snowfall for higher elevation terrain/mountain
ranges, and a mix of rain and snow for lower elevations. The
threat for heavy snow will focus over the Four Corners region
region today into Sunday, and heavy snow may redevelop over the
southern Rockies on Sunday. Probabilities are moderate to high
(50-70%) for an additional 8 inches or more of snow in the highest
elevations in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico over the
weekend. Heavy snowfall rates up to 2"/hr and gusty winds will
bring some blowing snow and reduced visibility, particularly for
mountain passes, leading to difficult to impossible travel
conditions at times. The snow is expected to taper off by Sunday
for Utah and Arizona, but linger into Monday over portions of
southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM MDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
