Subtropical Storm Alfa -
July 31-August 2,
1973
A weak subtropical cyclone formed 200 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras
on July 30th. Moving north, the
cyclone strengthened into a subtropical storm the following day.
After moving north of the Gulf Stream, the
subtropical storm weakened, and eventually dissipated as it neared the
Maine coast on August 1st. The

storm total rainfall for Alfa, using data provided by the National
