Tropical Storm Bernice - June 19-24,
1973
A tropical disturbance was noted on satellite imagery south of Ixtepec
on June 18th. The system initially
was stationary, developing into a tropical depression and tropical
storm on the 21st. Bernice then moved
northwestward, lured by a deep trough across the Great Plains.
The system moved ashore before dissipating
over the high terrain of southwest Mexico. The graphics below
show the storm total rainfall associated with
Bernice. Data
was
acquired from the Comision Nacional del Agua, the parent agency of
Mexico's national
weather service.
