Tropical Depression Six -
August 31-September 6, 1986
A tropical wave crossed the Caribbean sea, moving into a favorable
upper environment in the
western Carribbean on August 31st. The system crossed the Yucatan
peninsula as a weak tropical
depression, becoming better organized as it moved through the
south-central and western Gulf of
Mexico between the 1st and 3rd. The system moved ashore the coast
of eastern Mexico and quickly
dissipated as a tropical depression on the 4th, though its residual
cloud pattern persisted over Mexico
for an additional couple of days. The graphics below the storm
total rainfall for the depression, with
data provided by the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North
Carolina and the Comision
Nacional del Agua, the parent agency of Mexico's national weather
service.
