Unnamed Tropical Storm - August 15-18, 1970

A tropical disturbance originating from African developed northeast of the Bahamas into a
tropical depression, strengthening into a tropical storm as it headed across eastern North Carolina.
The system presented the general appearance of a tropical cyclone on satellite imagery during a
portion of its existence, but data available in real-time was not considered conclusive enough to
justify its classification as a tropical storm that year.  It was officially added to the tropical cyclone
database in 1972.  The graphics below show the storm total rainfall for the unnamed tropical storm.
