Unnamed Tropical Storm - June 13-17,
1965
An upper low closed off in the northwest Gulf of Mexico, spurring the
development
of a tropical depression
south of Guatemala. The depression moved northward across the
Mexican Isthmus into the Gulf of Mexico
on the 12th. The system intensified as it moved across the Gulf
of Mexico with the strongest winds well east
of the center, though its center was broad and ill-defined. As
the higher amounts migrated closer in towards the
center, the system moved northeast and accelerated as it moved into the
Florida panhandle on the morning
of the 15th. The system continued moving east-northeast, emerging
back into the Atlantic near the Virginia
Capes on June 17. The graphics below show the storm total
rainfall for this system. Data was provided by
the National
Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
