High pressure will remain in place north and east of the state
into the weekend, which should support a typical and breezy trade
wind pattern with some occasional and light windward/mountain
focus for showers. A trough is expected to begin passing to the
north by Sunday, but it shifts south and east of the state by
Monday before it retrogrades to the west midweek. This will
disrupt the trade winds however the associated surface cold front
should stay to the north of Hawaii, so sensible weather impacts
should be limited. Breezy trade winds should return by the middle
of next week as high pressure again builds in to the north and a
cutoff low settles to the east of Hawaii. This drifting low may
usher in an increase in moisture with the possibility of increased
shower activity for the Big Island and Maui. There is spread with
the guidance on how much moisture and the location of this low
feature.
