Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 257 AM EDT Mon May 23 2022 Valid 00Z Tue May 24 2022 - 00Z Tue May 31 2022 Hawaii is expected to remain on the southwestern periphery of the main subtropical high that will be centered about half way between the state and California through late Tuesday, and then another surface high builds in to the north of the Islands as the col in the ridge weakens for the middle to end of the week. Aloft, there will likely be a weak upper level disturbance to the east of the Big Island through about Tuesday, but this is not currently expected to have any meaningful impact on the local weather. The ensemble means are in relatively good agreement on the large scale pattern. In terms of sensible weather, mainly scattered showers and typical terrain enhancements are expected across the Islands with winds generally out of the east at 10-20 mph on most days. No major heavy rainfall events are anticipated over the next week as deep tropical moisture remains generally south of 15 degrees north through the period. Hamrick
