Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 410 AM EDT Tue May 31 2022 Valid 00Z Wed Jun 01 2022 - 00Z Wed Jun 08 2022 Hawaii's weather looks to remain relatively dry and quiet through this week into early next week, as an upper trough near the western islands gives way to an upper high currently centered just east of the state that will gradually drift westward atop the state midweek and westward through late week, though maintaining a ridge aloft. At the surface, a ridge of high pressure is shifting north of Hawaii and allowing for moderate trades to redevelop. This pattern could lead to some windward and mountain showers, but these are expected to be few and far between as the ridging aloft creates an inversion and moisture levels are below normal. Models show that the trade winds could decrease somewhat by this weekend for more of a nighttime land breeze/afternoon sea breeze pattern. Available moisture is currently expected to stay below normal for continued mainly dry weather. Tate
