Latest guidance is agreeable and consistent in showing a typical
easterly trade pattern through the next week with periodic
fluctuations in wind speeds along with variations in moisture
(though with mostly near to somewhat below average precipitable
water values) that will have some influence on
windward/mountain-focused showers. The upper ridge will build back
over Hawaii this week supporting relatively weak trade winds
through the upcoming weekend. This weekend, an upper low/surface
frontal system will work through well north of Hawaii with
amplified ridging building behind. This should shift the main
ridge axis northward leading to an increase in trade wind speeds
again by early next week.
