Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 409 AM EDT Sun Jul 03 2022 Valid 00Z Mon Jul 04 2022 - 00Z Mon Jul 11 2022 A reasonably strong surface high well to the north of Hawaii will maintain generally breezy to windy easterly trade winds over the next few days. A temporary increase in moisture pulled north from a trough aloft could increase cloud and shower coverage in the near term, mostly over windward/mauka areas though some could spill into leeward areas as well considering the strong winds. The surface high is forecast to drift slowly westward through around midweek while drier conditions move in, leading to a drier trade wind pattern with some gradual decreasing of the strength of the trades to around moderate levels. By the latter part of the week, moisture levels could increase once again, but with some uncertainty in how far north the increased moisture could get as well as some timing differences between models, so this will continue to be monitored.
