Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 349 AM EDT Tue Jul 05 2022 Valid 00Z Wed Jul 06 2022 - 00Z Wed Jul 13 2022 Trade winds are expected to trend somewhat downward to around moderate to breezy levels over the next few days as the surface high well to the north of Hawaii weakens slightly as it meanders over the Pacific. Additionally, moisture levels are forecast to drop and lessen shower coverage for the midweek time frame, though some high clouds could remain given possible periods of upper troughing especially over the western islands. By late week, trades are likely to increase to breezy levels once again and last through early next week. There may also be some periods of increased moisture--while models now are in better agreement that above average moisture may stay south of the state (though possibly reach the Big Island) around Thursday, there may be a brief period of increased moisture around Saturday for a wetter trade wind pattern, before drying out again early next week. There is some chance that moisture from what is currently Hurricane Bonnie could pass over Hawaii around midweek next week, which will continue to be monitored. Tate
