Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 335 AM EDT Wed Jul 06 2022 Valid 00Z Thu Jul 07 2022 - 00Z Thu Jul 14 2022 Trade winds are expected to trend somewhat downward, though still around moderate to breezy levels, for the next couple of days as the Pacific surface high well to the north of Hawaii weakens slightly and the pressure gradient relaxes a bit near Hawaii due to a dissipated front. After a drier Wednesday, a couple of weak to moderate bands of moisture, one over the Big Island and one into Kauai, may lead to some increased shower coverage over especially windward and mauka areas of those islands through the latter part of the week. Also by late week, trades are likely to increase to breezy levels once again and last through early next week. Drier conditions are forecast to return early next week to the state, but there remains potential for moisture from what is currently Hurricane Bonnie could pass over Hawaii around midweek next week.
