Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 348 AM EDT Sun Jul 17 2022 Valid 00Z Mon Jul 18 2022 - 00Z Mon Jul 25 2022 With the departure of Darby's remnants, expect the state to see an extended period of relatively drier conditions as guidance shows the state under a band of mostly below normal precipitable water values between areas of greater moisture to the south and north. The 00Z ECMWF suggests potential for a brief period of somewhat higher PWATs after midweek but the GFS and GEFS/ECMWF means maintain a drier scenario. The gradient south of mid-latitude high pressure will maintain moderate to brisk winds through the period, promoting a windward/mountain focus for showers. Strongest winds should extend into Monday followed by modestly weaker speeds for a few days before possibly rebounding a bit next weekend. Aloft, consensus shows ridging that drifts over the area through Tuesday and then a weakness dropping in from the north/northeast around midweek or so. There are still some detail/position differences for the latter feature, with the 00Z CMC farther east than other guidance. Upper heights should rise during next weekend. Rausch
