Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 345 AM EDT Mon Aug 08 2022 Valid 00Z Tue Aug 09 2022 - 00Z Tue Aug 16 2022 Trade winds are forecast to continue to gradually increase through the early part of the workweek across the state, yielding a typical trade wind pattern with windward and mauka showers and drier leeward areas, though with likely fairly light coverage given average to below average moisture. For midweek and beyond, there is potential for tropical low pressure development to the south of Hawaii. This should lead to easterly trades strengthening further due to an increasing pressure gradient. Less certain is the possibility for enhanced moisture to come into the state later this week and perhaps into early next week. While the highest moisture anomalies should stay south of the state in the vicinity of the tropical lows, some increased moisture could stream into Hawaii, but this still remains uncertain at this point.
