Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 338 AM EDT Tue Aug 30 2022 Valid 00Z Wed Aug 31 2022 - 00Z Wed Sep 07 2022 The latest model guidance shows relatively good agreement from the synoptic level over the region over the next week. Upper level ridging is forecast to dominate the weather the next few days, which may act to dampen the trade wind regime, favoring more typical diurnal sea/land breezes with showers favoring the windward areas. Going into this weekend and early next week, ridging subsides and a weak trough may approach from the southwest. Some deeper moisture and higher PWs may accompany this feature, but still uncertainty between the GFS and ECMWF. High pressure settling north of the Islands will help to assert the trade wind regime to moderate levels, favoring the better precipitation chances over the windward areas during the early morning to overnight hours.
