Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 246 AM EDT Wed Sep 7 2022 Valid 00Z Thu Sep 8 2022 - 00Z Thu Sep 15 2022 The core of the surface high over the eastern Pacific, centered near 45 degrees north, develops well to the northeast of Hawaii through the end of the week, with another surface ridge building back in north of the state for early next week. Any surface frontal boundaries will likely remain well to the north with no major influence on the local weather. The trades are generally expected to be about 10-20 mph from the ENE with higher gusts through Thursday, followed by a weaker and slightly more variable flow going into Friday and the weekend as the pressure gradient weakens some. The winds are likely to pick back up going into early next week as the high builds back in to the north. In terms of expected precipitation, nothing major or well organized is on the weather horizon, with mainly terrain enhanced showers on most days and the greatest coverage on the Big Island. Hamrick
