The base of an upper trough will swing out into the eastern
Pacific as high pressure builds over the islands this weekend.
Shortwave energy from East Asia will amplify the broad upper-level
pattern over the Central Pacific into mid-week. There's some
spread as to whether the any energy breaks off from the amplified
trough and drifts down over the islands late next week.

The trades will remian dominant for the next week with some small
scale differences due to the arrival of tropical moisture beneath
the troughs that will swing across the Central Pacific. Some
isolated heavy rainfall, noted in the HREF, is possible early
today with some scattered daytime showers over the next several
days. Next week's trough may bring another active period for the
end of the week.
