Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 343 AM EDT Sat Nov 05 2022 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 06 2022 - 00Z Sun Nov 13 2022 The guidance continues to agree that a fairly typical easterly trade wind flow should continue through the next week over Hawaii, with varying degrees in terms of wind speed. The strongest winds should be today, corresponding with peak strength of high pressure to the northeast of the state. Several areas of high pressure will persist into next weekend, which should maintain a mostly easterly component to the winds with some minor variability as a couple of fronts move over well to the north. This generally would mean typical windward/mountain-focused showers along eastern facing terrain amidst an overall drier regime setting up for next week. The latest models and ensembles show good agreement through much of the period on this pattern, although the CMC is more bullish in bringing troughing towards the state next weekend compared to the GFS or the ECMWF and the ensemble means.
