Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 252 AM EST Mon Nov 07 2022 Valid 00Z Tue Nov 08 2022 - 00Z Tue Nov 15 2022 Generally persistent high pressure north of Hawaii through much of this week will allow for a fairly typical easterly trade wind flow pattern with moderate to locally breezy speeds. This should support mainly windward/mountain-focused showers along the eastern facing terrain. An upper trough or cut-off closed low to the northeast of Hawaii later this week should cause trades to shift more northeasterly for a brief time this weekend, but back to the east (and weaker) by early next week. The latest models and ensembles show very good agreement through much of the week on this overall pattern, with lingering uncertainties still on how close a cut off low to the northeast gets to Hawaii. The better consensus right now suggests it should stay far enough away with minimal to no impacts expected. Santorelli
