Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 256 AM EST Mon Nov 14 2022 Valid 00Z Tue Nov 15 2022 - 00Z Tue Nov 22 2022 A break in the subtropical ridge is expected to persist in the general vicinity of 140W-150W through about Wednesday based on the latest ensemble means. This is a result of a low pressure system developing in the mid-latitudes with a trailing front north of the state. The core of the subtropical high should be centered northwest of the state through midweek, and then the ridge axis builds back in north of the state by the end of the week and into next weekend. The orientation of the surface trough and the high location should generally result in northeasterly trade wind flow at least through Tuesday with some periods of ENE or easterly flow. The wind should generally veer more easterly by Wednesday and beyond for most areas as the col in the ridge breaks down, and stronger winds going into next weekend as the ridge builds in to the north. No areas of organized significant rainfall are currently expected for the upcoming week. Hamrick
