Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 257 AM EST Tue Nov 15 2022 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 16 2022 - 00Z Wed Nov 23 2022 A large surface low initially north of Hawaii will tend to keep a col in the subtropical ridge through the middle of the week. The low then weakens and lifts north, allowing the ridge axis to build back in through the weekend. By Monday, another trough develops with a trailing cold front well to the west of the state, with the GEFS mean a bit farther east than the EC mean. The trades should generally veer more easterly by Wednesday and beyond for most areas as the col in the ridge breaks down, and stronger winds are likely going into next weekend as the ridge builds in to the north. There may be an increase in terrain enhanced showers going into Friday and Saturday, but not expected to be significant. Hamrick
