Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 306 AM EST Wed Nov 16 2022 Valid 00Z Thu Nov 17 2022 - 00Z Thu Nov 24 2022 The subtropical surface high is forecast to build back in to the north of Hawaii going through the remainder of the work week as the low over the mid-latitudes lifts farther away. The core of the ridge should be near 30 degrees north and generally situated northeast of the Islands. The ensemble means are indicating a well defined col developing in the ridge by early next week over the far northwestern Islands, with the GEFS mean a bit to the east of the EC mean. Trades should generally be out of the east-northeast on most days with a gradually increasing velocity of the winds going into the weekend as the pressure gradient gets stronger. In the precipitation department, there may be a slight increase in shower coverage from Maui to the Big Island for the Friday through Monday time period, but overall nothing too significant. Hamrick
