High pressure north of Hawaii will maintain moderate to breezy
trade winds early this week featuring some modest moisture for
windward terrain/mountain focusing showers as well. The models
continue to indicate weakening and veering trades around the
middle of the week ahead of a digging upper trough which should
stay to the northwest of the state. This does look to bring a cold
front and some deeper moisture into the region with increased wet
weather across Hawaii later in the week. Models show some
consensus already for another trough/upper low behind this one
next weekend which looks to get even closer to the state resulting
in a deeper pull of moisture and more heavy rainfall potential
across the islands early next week. There is a lot of uncertainty
still in the guidance regarding how close to the islands this
system may come which would have big implications for exact
rainfall amounts. This will continue to be monitored.
