Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 257 AM EST Fri Dec 23 2022 Valid 00Z Sat Dec 24 2022 - 00Z Sat Dec 31 2022 Overall the pattern across Hawaii through the next week or so looks to be rather calm and dry. In the short term, a weak front approaching the northwestern islands may cause winds to turn southwesterly over Kauai and Oahu, leading to possibly more clouds and maybe a few showers that favor typically leeward areas. Another couple of fronts are likely to stay well north of the state through the period, and thus rainfall should focus north as well. Upper ridging is forecast to build through the weekend and beyond atop Hawaii, while a surface high to the east builds the western part of its ridge into the state. These features will allow for generally dry conditions as well as weak winds for the most part dominated by land and sea breezes. Tate
