Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 258 AM EST Sun Dec 25 2022 Valid 00Z Mon Dec 26 2022 - 00Z Mon Jan 02 2023 A west-east oriented ridge aloft, as well as a surface ridge extending westward from a high east of Hawaii, will promote rather calm and dry conditions all this week into next weekend across the state. Winds are likely to be dominated by land and sea breezes today given this pattern. The surface high drifting westward from the eastern Pacific Monday-Tuesday and settling to the northeast of Hawaii early Wednesday could gradually strengthen trade winds a bit to light-moderate levels with the increased pressure gradient, leading to cloudiness favoring windward areas. But the ridge aloft should keep the atmosphere stable and drier than normal, limiting shower coverage. Trades are forecast to once again weaken for the latter part of the week as the surface high drifts eastward. Tate
