Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 250 AM EST Mon Dec 26 2022 Valid 00Z Tue Dec 27 2022 - 00Z Tue Jan 03 2023 A west-east oriented ridge aloft, as well as a surface ridge extending westward from a high east of Hawaii, will promote rather calm and dry conditions all this week and into early next week across the state. Over the next couple of days, trade winds should gradually strengthen to light-moderate levels as the surface high drifts toward and settles to the northeast of Hawaii, providing an increased pressure gradient. Cloudiness and any showers would favor windward areas in this pattern, but the ridge aloft should keep the atmosphere stable and drier than normal, limiting shower coverage. Trades are forecast to once again weaken for the latter part of the week as the surface high drifts eastward and a front or two pass by well to the north, allowing for a land/sea breeze pattern. Tate
