Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 258 AM EST Tue Dec 27 2022 Valid 00Z Wed Dec 28 2022 - 00Z Wed Jan 04 2023 A west-east oriented ridge aloft, as well as a surface ridge extending westward from a high east of Hawaii, will promote rather clement and dry conditions all this week and into early next week across the state. Over the next couple of days, trade winds are likely to be at generally light-moderate levels as the surface high drifts toward and settles to the northeast of Hawaii, providing an increased pressure gradient. Cloudiness and any showers would favor windward areas in this pattern, but the ridge aloft should keep the atmosphere stable and drier than normal, limiting shower coverage. Trades are forecast to weaken for the latter part of this week as the surface high drifts eastward and a front or two pass by well to the north, allowing for a land/sea breeze pattern. Then trades may restrengthen a bit by the weekend into early next week, but perhaps only to levels that promote a hybrid land/sea breezes and trades pattern. Tate
