Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 300 AM EST Thu Feb 02 2023 Valid 00Z Fri Feb 03 2023 - 00Z Fri Feb 10 2023 Generally weak winds are expected to lead to a continued land and sea breeze pattern through another day or so. Showers are likely to develop especially over the Big Island and in Kauai where sea breezes form convergence over the islands, as an overall moist airmass remains in place along with troughing aloft and at the surface, other than a drier air pocket over the central part of the state. Some localized heavy downpours may be possible as well as a couple thunderstorms over the Big Island. By late this week, the surface pattern looks favorable for more typical easterly winds to form by later in the week with a surface high to the north. A weak cold front ahead of the high still looks to cross into Kauai late Friday into Saturday before stalling and weakening. This may locally enhance showers especially in windward and mauka areas as a moist pattern remains. By early to mid-next week, trade winds look to stay quite breezy to strong, with a gradual trend down in the available moisture. Tate
