Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 239 AM EST Fri Mar 03 2023 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 04 2023 - 00Z Sat Mar 11 2023 Another day of wet trade wind weather is likely Friday, as a Pacific high to the north creates a pressure gradient for easterly winds with sufficient moisture in place. A weak upper low atop the state continues to provide instability for potentially even some thunderstorms, and ample showers that could be locally heavy. But late Friday and over the weekend, low pressure is forecast to push eastward across the Pacific and displace the surface high. This will quickly weaken the winds over Hawaii for a sea/land breeze pattern with fewer showers overall. Next week, troughing aloft across the Pacific as well will help push cold fronts across Hawaii, serving to focus moisture along and ahead of the fronts for showers and possible storms. Multiple fronts and thus multiple rounds of rain are possible across all islands, before a drying trend behind the fronts by around Thursday-Friday of next week. Tate
