A cold front will produce showers across the islands today with
some locally heavy rainfall possible over the Big Island. Easterly
trades will support return moisture advection into the region on
Friday and through the weekend with additional showers possible. A
new Central Pacific system will bring another cold front and
chances for additional rainfall to the islands early next week.
The cold front may stall-out across the state through mid-week.
The latest 00z EC and 06z GFS appear to agree on the synoptic
setup next week, but the EC appears to be on the higher end of 24
hour rainfall totals over the state. Precipitable water values
drop off from East to West early-to-middle of next week suggesting
a drop-off in rainfall potential through the end of the medium
range period.
