Latest guidance still generally agrees that surface high building
to the northeast and to the northwest of the islands will support
a more typical and drier trade wind pattern over the state in the
short term, with activity limited under the influence of upper
ridging. Showers that do form should focus across windward and
mountain areas. An upper weakness will develop over the state
mid-later week, maybe into Saturday. Pooling moisture under the
modest weakness could refuel some showers and local downpour
activity in a pattern with lingering moderate trades. A favored
guidance composite indicates that trades may strengthen later over
the holiday weekend into early next week as high pressure builds
and bridges to the north of the state and upper ridging tries to
return overhead to again limit showers.
