Both deterministic and ensemble model guidance is in good
agreement for a pattern shift away from breezy trades through
Memorial Day weekend. An upper-level trough will move southward
over the central Pacific as riding builds to the north, briefly
weakening/shifting surface high pressure further north away from
the state and subsequently weakening trade winds. Guidance
suggests the trough should weaken and surface high pressure will
once again shift southward following Memorial Day, with a return
to breezier conditions. The unsettled upper-level pattern through
the weekend could support an increase precipitation chances, but
the guidance suggests showers will remain limited to favored
windward locations for now.
