Moderate trades late this week should trend considerably weaker
this weekend and early next week as an approaching front erodes
high pressure to the north of Hawaii. This supports drier
conditions overall across the state, especially as models show
precipitable water values steadily declining by the weekend. Trade
winds should rebound around mid to latter next week, with
increasing shower chances too as high pressure once again becomes
established north of the region and weak upper troughing over the
state shifts well eastward. There is very good agreement on this
overall pattern, so a general model compromise should be a
reasonable starting point for the forecast over the next week.
