Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 341 AM EDT Sat Jun 17 2023 Valid 00Z Sun Jun 18 2023 - 00Z Sun Jun 25 2023 A Pacific surface high well to the northeast of Hawaii will meander somewhat through the weekend, with its influence extending into Hawaii and maintaining moderate to breezy easterly trades. Meanwhile, a small upper low is expected to drift near/atop the state this weekend into early next week that could allow for a lessening inversion aloft for some enhanced showers. Given the trades, showers should favor windward and mauka areas. Slightly above average moisture levels may be seen but no major surges of tropical moisture are expected over the next week with the deepest moisture confined to the ITCZ. Shower coverage may lessen by Tuesday and beyond as the upper low weakens and moves away. The surface high is forecast to press south and west closer to the state by midweek and beyond, which could further strengthen trades to widespread breezy to windy levels. Tate
