Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 356 AM EDT Sun Jun 18 2023 Valid 00Z Mon Jun 19 2023 - 00Z Mon Jun 26 2023 Trade winds look to stay at around moderate levels for the next couple of days, as the Pacific surface high stays well to the northeast of Hawaii. Meanwhile, a small upper low is expected to drift south atop the state. This may allow for a lessening inversion aloft, which along with a band of moisture coming in could produce some shower enhancement on Monday in particular. Given the trades, showers should favor windward and mauka areas. Shower coverage is likely to lessen by Tuesday and beyond as the upper low weakens and moves away. The surface high is forecast to press south and west closer to the state by midweek and beyond, which should further strengthen trades to widespread breezy to windy levels. Slightly above average moisture levels may be seen at times but no major surges of tropical moisture are expected all week, with the deepest moisture confined to the ITCZ. Tate
