Through the next seven days the guidance maintains moderate to
brisk trades that will provide a windward/mountain focus for
showers, while rainfall amounts should tend to be on the lighter
side given below-climatology precipitable water values.  Consensus
still shows potential for a slight strengthening of trades over
the first half of the week as eastern Pacific high pressure builds
southwestward.  Wind speeds should stabilize after midweek and
could weaken a bit by the weekend as the surface high weakens
slightly.  For the upper level pattern, yesterday's majority
scenario of an initial weakness over the main islands getting
pushed northward as a ridge to the south strengthens has held on
fairly well in latest guidance runs.  There is some modest debate
over the strength of the upper ridge by next weekend but there is
no prominent clustering to favor leaning one way or another from a
multi-model average at this time.
