Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 308 AM EDT Fri Jul 07 2023 Valid 00Z Sat Jul 08 2023 - 00Z Sat Jul 15 2023 The latest guidance over Hawaii continues to show a persistent trade pattern with moderate to brisk winds and primarily windward focused showers through the next week. Trades may strengthen some this weekend as areas of surface high pressure merge north of the state. The combination of upper ridging over the state and lower than average precipitable water values should keep any rainfall fairly light through the weekend. A pocket of greater moisture (originally from what was Hurricane Adrian) passes through around Monday-Tuesday along with a broad upper weakness from East to West around the middle of next week. This could briefly increase rainfall across portions of the state. Models seem to have a good handle on the overall pattern, but continue to offer some differences in the smaller scale details, especially mid to later next week as the upper weakness travels through the region.
