Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 433 AM EDT Sat Jul 08 2023 Valid 00Z Sun Jul 09 2023 - 00Z Sun Jul 16 2023 The latest guidance over Hawaii continues to show a persistent trade pattern with moderate to brisk winds and primarily windward focused showers through the next week. Trades may strengthen some this weekend as areas of surface high pressure merge north of the state with any rainfall on the lighter side due to upper ridging over the state and lower than average moisture. A pocket of greater moisture (originally from what was Hurricane Adrian) passes near/just north of Hawaii along with a broad upper weakness from East to West around the early to middle of next week. This may briefly increase rainfall across most likely northern islands. Models seem to have a good handle on the overall pattern, but continue to offer some differences in the smaller scale details, especially mid to later next week as the upper weakness travels through the region.
