Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 234 AM EDT Thu Jul 13 2023 Valid 00Z Fri Jul 14 2023 - 00Z Fri Jul 21 2023 The pattern over Hawaii remains rather stagnant into early next week with surface high pressure anchored north/northwest of Hawaii and an upper level ridge over the state. This should result in dry weather and moderate to locally breezy trade winds. The latest guidance continues to suggest that Tropical Storm Calvin could impact Hawaii (as a tropical depression or a weak tropical storm) around Tuesday of next week with the latest official track from the National Hurricane Center bringing the center of the storm over the Big Island. There does remain plenty of uncertainties in the details and placement of this system (the CMC and UKMET have it passing just south of the Big Island), but regardless of exact track, confidence increases this system would bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall to much of the state, especially the Big Island and Maui. See the latest information from the National Hurricane Center for additional information on Calvin. Santorelli
