Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 335 AM EDT Fri Jul 14 2023 Valid 00Z Sat Jul 15 2023 - 00Z Sat Jul 22 2023 The pattern over Hawaii remains rather stagnant into early next week with surface high pressure anchored north/northwest of Hawaii and an upper level ridge extending westward over the state from the eastern Pacific. This should result in mainly dry weather, except for the typical trade wind enhanced showers, and moderate to locally breezy trade winds through about early Wednesday. Looking ahead to Wednesday and Thursday, what is now Hurricane Calvin will likely track towards the general direction of the Big Island as a tropical storm based on the latest forecasts from the National Hurricane Center. This would result in a round of heavy rainfall for the Big Island and Maui for the Wednesday-Thursday time period, along with high surf and strong winds. As the system continues to weaken, lighter impacts are likely for the central and western Islands. Hamrick
