Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 357 AM EDT Mon Jul 24 2023 Valid 00Z Tue Jul 25 2023 - 00Z Tue Aug 01 2023 A reasonably strong surface high will meander well north of Hawaii around 40N latitude through the week. The influence of this high will lead to persistent generally breezy easterly trades through the next week, with perhaps minor variations in speed from day to day. After some enhanced moisture exits the state early Monday, a drier trade wind pattern looks to set up with a few showers in favored windward/mauka areas through much of the week, other than perhaps a slight increase in moisture around Tuesday-Wednesday that could provide a little more support for showers. But general ridging aloft should provide an inversion aloft to keep showers shallow. By late week into the weekend, a trough axis may set up over the western islands, which could lead to increased moisture drawn north. Model guidance does not really show that yet but this will continue to be monitored. Tate
