Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 310 AM EDT Tue Aug 01 2023 Valid 00Z Wed Aug 02 2023 - 00Z Wed Aug 09 2023 A favored composite of reasonably well clustered mid-larger scale guidance indicates that high pressure now bridged to the north of the islands should maintain moderate to breezy easterly trades into midweek. Clouds and showers that form should favor windward and mauka areas, but should be limited within a pattern with generally below normal moisture. Upper trough amplification and slow approach toward the state from the east should act to weaken that portion of the high pressure ridge and associated island trades by later this week in a pattern with slowly returning moisture and shower activity through the weekend into early next week. Upper trough development to over the state over the weekend should further pool moisture and destabilize, with growing potential for the onset of deeper tropical moisture to the state early next week to fuel activity.
