Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 327 AM EDT Thu Aug 17 2023 Valid 00Z Fri Aug 18 2023 - 00Z Fri Aug 25 2023 Tropical Storm Greg will pass well to the south of Hawaii today, and besides some locally gusty winds, should not pose a threat to Hawaii. After this, winds should relax a bit as upper level ridging builds over Hawaii with mostly dry weather. Around Sunday/Monday, the guidance continues to show the remnants of what is now Tropical Storm Fernanda in the east Pacific sliding just to the south of the Big Island. This would bring an uptick in moisture and gusty winds across the state, favoring Maui and the Big Island, with some increasing threat for moderate to heavy rains. There is still plenty of uncertainty remaining on exact rainfall amounts/impacts. A more typical trade wind pattern should return after next Wednesday. Santorelli
