Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 326 AM EDT Sat Aug 19 2023 Valid 00Z Sun Aug 20 2023 - 00Z Sun Aug 27 2023 The overall weather pattern across the Hawaii domain is expected to be relatively uneventful through this weekend with mainly moderate trade winds from the ENE expected and windward showers across the southeastern Islands. By early Monday, attention then turns to the approaching remnants of former T.S. Fernanda, with the model guidance continuing to suggest the remnant low will pass south of the Big Island Monday evening. However, the northern periphery will likely encompass locations from Oahu to the Big Island with PWs rising to near or slightly above 2 inches, accompanied by heavy showers and a few thunderstorms. This will mainly be on Monday into Monday night with the potential for several inches of rainfall that could result in some flooding issues. In the wake of this system will be a return to more seasonal levels of atmospheric moisture and trade wind enhanced showers. Trades will return to a generally easterly direction by Tuesday and beyond at speeds of 10-20 mph in most cases with the main subtropical high remaining well north of the state near 40N/150W. Hamrick
