Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 322 AM EDT Sun Aug 20 2023 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 21 2023 - 00Z Mon Aug 28 2023 The remnants of former T.S. Fernanda begin approaching the Islands late Sunday night, with the model guidance continuing to suggest the remnant low will pass south of the Big Island Monday evening. However, the northern periphery will likely encompass locations from Oahu to the Big Island with PWs rising to near or slightly above 2 inches, accompanied by heavy showers and a few thunderstorms. This will mainly be on Monday into Monday night with the potential for several inches of rainfall that could result in some flooding issues. In the wake of this system will be a return to more seasonal levels of atmospheric moisture and trade wind enhanced showers. Trades will return to a generally easterly direction by Tuesday and beyond at speeds of 10-20 mph in most cases with the main subtropical high remaining well north of the state near 40N/150W. Hamrick
