Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 331 AM EDT Tue Aug 22 2023 Valid 00Z Wed Aug 23 2023 - 00Z Wed Aug 30 2023 A rather uneventful weather pattern is expected across the Hawaii domain for the upcoming week, with the main surface high anchored in place well northeast of the Islands near 40N/150W through the end of the work week based on the latest model guidance. This high may then drift some towards the south next weekend and a col in the ridge axis may develop north of the western Islands as a frontal boundary approaches the region from the northwest, but not expected to have any noteworthy impacts at this time. In terms of sensible weather, trade wind flow should generally be out of the east at 10-20 mph most days through Friday, and then perhaps veering some to the ESE next weekend as the col develops northwest of the state. No major incursions of tropical moisture are expected after the passage of the remnants of former T.S. Fernanda, with typical trade wind enhanced showers on the windward terrain. Hamrick
